Are society and government two sides of the same coin?
Although they may have an impact on one another and are not always two sides of the same coin, society, and government are two related but separate entities.
The aggregate collection of people who interact with one another to form a social order and who hold similar values, beliefs, and customs is referred to as a society. The official institution or system of laws and institutions that are put in place to oversee or control society is referred to as government, on the other hand.
Although it is common for governments to be set up in order to serve and represent society, this does not always mean that they accurately reflect and/or represent the goals and objectives of society as a whole. In some instances, the government may be swayed by particular interests or organizations, or it may take actions that go counter to what some people in society want and need.
Similar to how the people may affect the government, so can social movements and other types of group action. Government and society, however, are not the same thing, and they can exist separately.
